Couples Counseling and Trauma Therapy on the Big Island

Online Sessions Available Across Hawai‘i

If this feels familiar, it’s probably not random

  • Emotional distance or disconnection in your relationship, even when you care deeply about each other.

  • Repeating arguments that never really get resolved—one of you reaching for connection, the other shutting down or avoiding.

  • Difficulty talking about hard things without becoming overwhelmed, defensive, or numb.

  • Constantly questioning yourself in relationships—Am I too much? Am I asking for the wrong thing?

  • Living with anxiety or tension beneath the surface, even when things look “fine” from the outside.

These patterns often show up when trauma, long-term stress, or relational wounds go unaddressed—especially in close relationships.

Together, we work on what actually changes things

  • Identify the trauma-based and nervous-system patterns driving anxiety, shutdowns, or conflict.

  • Learn how to respond to each other instead of repeating the same cycles.

  • Build emotional safety so hard conversations don’t feel so threatening.

  • Strengthen self-trust and confidence in how you show up in relationships.

  • Create more secure, connected relationships—starting with the one you have with yourself.

This is therapy that goes beneath surface behaviors so real change can happen—in your relationship, your body, and your daily life.

At Empower Change Counseling, I help adults on the Big Island and across Hawaiʻi blend trauma-informed therapy, relationship work, and nervous-system regulation—so change isn’t just understood, it’s felt.

Uncover why your patterns show up, rebuild self-trust, and create space for healthier relationships with yourself, your partner, and your life through couples counseling, trauma therapy, anxiety therapy, and eating disorder therapy.

Couples counseling and individual therapy for people stuck in the same painful patterns — miscommunication, emotional distance, or feeling alone in a relationship — even when they’re trying their hardest to do things differently.

This isn’t about fixing you or your partner — it’s about understanding what keeps getting in the way of connection.

You’ve been holding it all together on the outside but inside, it feels like chaos. The overthinking, the emotional shutdowns, the same relationship patterns playing out again and again.

At Empower Change Counseling, I offer online couples counseling and individual therapy on the Big Island and across Hawaiʻi to help you slow the spirals, calm your nervous system, and start responding instead of reacting — in your relationships and in your life.

Together, we dig into the root causes — the patterns, beliefs, and old survival strategies keeping you stuck — so you can feel grounded, confident, and connected again.

  • Feeling disconnected in your relationship — talking more but understanding each other less, or feeling alone even when you’re together.

  • Getting stuck in the same relationship patterns and wondering why the same fights, shutdowns, or dynamics keep showing up no matter who you’re with.

  • Living with constant overthinking and racing thoughts, like your brain just won’t slow down long enough to let you breathe.

  • Carrying everyone else’s needs while ignoring your own, then feeling resentful, exhausted, or burned out.

  • Struggling with food, body image, or control around eating as a way to cope when emotions feel overwhelming.

Trauma doesn’t just live in memories. It shows up in relationships, reactions, and the ways we protect ourselves. Trauma therapy focuses on understanding these survival patterns, calming the nervous system, and creating lasting change that shows up in everyday life.

Trauma Therapy
Eating Disorder Therapy

Struggles with food are rarely about food. Eating disorder therapy explores the emotional, relational, and survival patterns driving behaviors around eating, control, and body image — helping you build a healthier relationship with food and yourself.

Relationships don’t struggle because people don’t care. They struggle because old patterns, nervous system responses, and unspoken needs taking over. Couples counseling helps you slow down conflict, understand what’s really happening beneath the surface, and rebuild trust, safety, and connection. Affirming for diverse and non-traditional relationships.

Couples Therapy

Therapist. Trauma Survivor. Truth Teller.

I’m a licensed therapist who believes real change doesn’t come from fixing yourself — it comes from understanding why your patterns exist in the first place and learning how to find relief as those patterns show up in real time.

Like many of the people I work with, I didn’t come to this work untouched by life. I know what it’s like to carry anxiety, to navigate trauma, and to move through seasons in a relationship that are genuinely hard and require real work and honesty to get through. I also know what it’s like to do the work — individually and together — and experience a relationship that feels safer, more connected, and healthier than it ever has before.

My work is trauma-informed, relationship-focused, and grounded in nervous system awareness. Together, we slow things down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and create change that feels supportive in the moment and sustainable over time.

Ready for a Therapist That Gets it?

You don’t have to have everything figured out to start. If you’re feeling stuck in your relationship, overwhelmed by old patterns, or exhausted from trying to hold it all together, you’re not alone and you don’t have to navigate it by yourself.

Therapy here isn’t about fixing you or rushing the process. It’s about creating a space where you can slow down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, find relief in the moment, and begin making changes that actually last.

If you’re ready to explore whether working together feels like the right fit, I invite you to take the next step.
